Why underwriting

A high-paying skill the industry is short on

As lenders digitize and automate, they need people who can oversee decisions, handle exceptions and own the risk — and there simply aren’t enough trained underwriters to go around. Learn the skill, and you put yourself on the right side of that shortage.

It pays well

Canadian underwriters earn roughly $60K–$110K+, with senior roles above $107K — and skills that compound over a career.

It's in demand

Steady, ongoing hiring for skilled underwriters across banks, monolines, credit unions and alternative lenders.

It's durable

Automation needs human judgment behind it. Underwriters who understand risk stay essential.
